Symbolism of Spirals

The spirals on this glass bracelet are powerful symbols of creation and growth. The “pendant” on this bracelet has three spirals wired together. The colors in this glass bracelet are reminiscent of springtime, which is also symbolic of creation and growth.

One of the oldest geometric shapes found throughout the ancient world are spirals. Petroglyphs of spirals date back to around the Neolithic period. Yet, ancient cultures throughout the world carved the same symbol with little or no communication with each other.

The spiral is fundamental to nature, appearing on animals such as the snail, seashells, and occurs in natural phenomena such as whirlpools, hurricanes, tornadoes and spinning galaxies. The spiral has become a powerful symbol for creation and growth, used by many ancient cultures and religious traditions. Symbolism Of Spirals

My Inspiration For Designing This Glass Bracelet

The inspiration for designing this bracelet are the color scheme and making the spirals to wire wrap and capture the “pendant.” The color scheme was inspired in part by Monet because I love the color schemes that he used in his paintings. I love his combination of primary colors in much of his work. I also love to experiment and incorporate different shapes into my pieces. In addition to the colors reminding me of Spring, the tear drop shapes of the pearls also remind me of spring!
